Ahoy!

The internal compass rose…

You may not take the course that everyone else does, nor the one that you had plotted out from the beginning; but if you follow your inspiration and roll with life’s crazy waves, you may find that you’ll end up exactly where you were always meant to be.

Our new design’s wave is reminiscent of The Great Wave of Kanagawa to highlight the struggle between our ideals and what the world hands us. It also inspired my favorite piece of art, Starry Night, by Vincent Van Gogh. The overwhelming feeling of the wave’s vast depths and claw-like crests threatening to pull you under showcases the struggle of living in a world where all is not 100% great. But as the Italian poet Dante once said, “The clash between nature and humans is sealed in that prior moment, where anything can yet occur.”

The compass rose is off-kilter because if you look in the dictionary off-kilter is described as unusual, quirky, abnormal, offbeat, and off-the-wall. I am all those things wrapped into one very peculiar individual and I’m not afraid to admit it. There once was a time when I tried to hide my weirdness but our weirdness is what makes us fun, makes us entertaining, unique and most of all it makes us who we are. And maybe, if we can embrace our zaniness then others will be able to also. Let your freak flag fly.

If anyone doesn’t like it, let them go find less.

I’m creating this site to invest in me; to focus on the wishes and dreams that I have. However, wishes are just hot air and fluff unless backed with intention and determination.

My once best friend, who sadly passed several years ago used to say I was a hurricane force to be reckoned with and I once was. Nothing could deter me from my plans and goals, my life and dreams, but then I experienced a real hurricane that did deter me and threw me off my charted course; and the last couple of years have felt like I was adrift without compass or sails.

However, I’m starting to rebuild my mast, reset my sails, and right my compass to continue this journey that we call life.

So, follow along, be with me in the here and now, if you like, each and every day, while we still have it…
